CERTIFIED RADON TESTING

Karen Spinnler is the owner and certified operator of North Georgia Radon Testing. For over 14 years, Karen worked alongside her husband, a professional home inspector who has earned and maintained a reputation for excellence and professionalism in his line of work. Over the course of that time, it became decidedly clear to Karen just how important radon testing is to a healthy home. But what troubled Karen was how little that need was being met in the broader North Georgia housing industry—even though the area is a known radon hotspot.

Meeting a Need

Determined to make a difference, Karen studied and trained to become a radon testing specialist, eventually moving forward to start her own company. North Georgia Radon provides an important service to homeowners, home buyers, home inspectors, real estate professionals, and relocation companies that has the potential to save lives. Karen’s certifications and qualifications include:

  • NRPP Residential Measurement Provider – Standard and Analytical Services
  • Member of AARST (American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists)
  • Member of SE Chapter of AARST

Standard and Analytical Services

Karen is certified by NRPP for both Standard and Analytical Services, permitting her to place and retrieve the radon monitor and to analyze the data herself. This allows her to provide results within 24 hours of retrieving the radon monitor.

The Power of Personal Experience

The EPA suggests that radon levels inside a home should not exceed 4 pCi/L. If radon is concentrated above this threshold, mitigation is strongly recommended in order to attain a safer level for home occupancy. Karen’s own North Georgia home tested above the limit and required the installation of a radon mitigation system—a stark reminder of the importance of her work. This also places her in an even better position to provide recommendations should your test results reveal that mitigation is needed.

When she’s not on the job, Karen enjoys staying active outdoors. She loves to go hiking, camping, and boating. Karen is happily married with two children and is a Boy Scout committee member.
